Young Artist Winners

David Cook

David Cook is the E-flat and fourth clarinetist with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and clarinetist with the Fiati 5 wind quintet. He has won prizes in the White Lake Chamber Music Festival Solo Competition, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artist Competition, and Oklahoma Community Orchestra Young Artist Competition, as well as the Betty J. Hixon Saxophone/Clarinet Award and Dora Dawson Music Award. David is pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet performance and the Master of Music degree in music theory at the University of Oklahoma. He holds Master of Music degrees in clarinet performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan and Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education degrees from Central Michigan University. David’s principal teachers include Dr. Suzanne Tirk, Chad Burrow, Theodore Oien, and Dr. Kennen White.

Bruce Haiduk

Bruce Haiduk is a senior trombone performance major and member of the Honors College at Oklahoma State University. Bruce won the 2014 OSU Concerto Competition and his trombone quartet won the 2014 Courtois Trombone Quartet Competition. He has also won prizes in competitions sponsored by the Ladies Music Club of OKC, Chamber Music Tulsa and the Big 12 Area Trombone Conference, and he has been a semifinalist in the Naftzger Young Artist Competition and a finalist in the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society Instrumental Competition. Bruce attended the 2014 Eastern Music Festival and the 2013 Sewanee Summer Music Festival. Bruce is presently principal trombone of the OSU Symphony Orchestra and principal euphonium of the OSU Wind Ensemble.
